Paula Bronstein is an American award-winning independent photojournalist. She has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout her long career that spans over four decades. She has documented a world in turmoil visiting dozens of countries documenting history - shaping events involving war and conflict, political unrest, earthquakes, both the Japan and Asian tsunami along with massive floods and its consequences. From East Timor to Afghanistan ( 2001 - 2022 ) the Iraq war, to Gaza, since 2022 Paula is focusing on the war in Ukraine. Her expertise is documenting humanity, bringing awareness to compelling issues throughout the world. Paula is the author of the internationally acclaimed photo book “Afghanistan: Between Hope and Fear” ( 2016 ) She has worked as a staff photographer for a variety of American newspapers for 15 years before moving to the Asian region in the late 90’s for Getty Images as staff news photographer from 2002-2013. Paula’s work has been published globally and exhibited in numerous countries.

2024: Le Figaro magazine Lifetime Achievement Award Visa d’or Award, Pulitzer Prize finalist for her coverage of the Pakistan floods ( Getty Images 2010) Paula is a two time winner (2023, 2018) Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for War Correspondents for the Public Prize, in 2022 she was named Lucie Photographer of the Year, and also Winner of the Anja Niedringhaus Award.
