Wearing the head and pelt of a wolf he shot, an attendee at a fur exposition in Anchorage, Alaska heads to the show passing the Hilton Hotel in downtown.
Wolfing It Down
At the reception desk a dozen caribou
check in. Their luggage
already on the elevator. In line behind them,
a cranky beaver wanting to chew
on chair legs, a porcupine couple
insisting on a water bed.
Outside the hotel a wolf paces
waiting for a vacant room.
This their last refuge before others steal
their animal heat.
